There has been much activity on the blogs and forums lately regarding gay rights, religion, morality, abortion, politics and the general heated banter between the various groups for and against these topics.

My question is simply, why? Why do we concern ourselves over topics that only lead into unresolved circular arguments? Why waste so much energy into something that will not lead to the other person changing his ways in any case?  Why try to ‘save’ those who do not wish to be ‘saved’? Why run around like a hamster in it’s wheel, going nowhere?

My answer is also very simple.  Humans love conflict.  They thrive by it.  They get a thrill out of seeing, or being part of drama.  You might thank our Roman ancestors for that.  The modern reality show is just watching someone else’s problems in an attempt to diminish our own problems in comparison and seem a bit more superiour to our fellow man.  But even this leads to another why question.  Why must we as humans prove our superiourity to other humans?

In the end it doesn’t really matter. Man is mortal.

I personally have no desire to waste time or energy on such things.  There are better things to do than try to force or defend your views to another who disagrees.  Simply hold your views to yourself and be happy with your life.  Use your energy to make money, write a novel, or even help as opposed to hinder your fellow man.  If everyone would simply follow their own star, mankind can get out of it’s evolutionary rut and grow into something more…
