Should Public Figures Be Held to a Higher Ethical Standard in their personal relationships?

Yes – They represent us and are role models so hypocrisy is unacceptable
No – They are human, not perfect, and it is unfair to expose their personal lives
Maybe – but only if they abused their public office like spending taxpayer dollars
I find it interesting that public figures such as politicians are held to a higher standard with regard to their private lives. Why? Locally right here in Cumberland County, we have seen it and of course on a national level as well. If a person is in a position of public trust then I think it is only if he or she violates that trust should scrutiny take place. What they do in their personal lives, as long as it does not involve tax payer dollars, is irrelevant.
