Take a moment.
Its time we take a step back from our "views" and our "stance on war, and remember those who have paved the way for us to be allowed to be vocal about our "views" and "stance on moral issues such as war.
I have friends on both sides of the fence. Those who oppose this war and everything they feel it stands for, and those ready to board a plane to middle east at a moments notice to aid. Neither are necessarily right, nor wrong.
What we need to remember are the men and women who have died or are dying on a daily basis to defend our ability to have these opinions one way or another. Keep in mind they are dying for you whether you support them or not. I myself am not in the military (and have no particular interest in joining either), but I am from a military family and half of the men and women I went to school with are wearing those boots on a daily basis. Some of those same men and women are on desert roads as I type this on high alert, and praying they don't hit an IED. They are simply men and women representing their country and returning fire at those who fire upon them.
No one likes war, no one wants innocent people to die, and no one wants their soldiers to die. The reality however, despite your stance, is that it is happening, here and now. So even if you are opposed to the way our government is being run at the moment (and frankly, I wouldn't blame you), and are not fond of the war, the next time you see a soldier walk by, stop and say...
"Thanks"
