Born and raised in the deep south so please overlook my spelling and grammar. We tend to type as we speak, but do discount that I may not have a brain.
View all articles by Bill HarrisonThis article is not a rant and I will try to contain my emotions and simply report what I can find. My emotion is simple. The money has been sent and yet I receive a phone call from the State asking if I would rather be taxed on products to help support the North Carolina Education system or if I would consider another percent on the dollar for every dollar of the value of my home a fair offer? I think that you can see that my emotions are going to run this story.

LOTTERY TRANSFER OF OVER $68.5 MILLION
BRINGS EDUCATION FUND TALLY TO MORE THAN $696 MILLION!
RALEIGH- Today the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) transferred $68,580,917 to
the State Education Lottery Fund for sales during the first two months of the 4th quarter of
the fiscal year (April 1 – May 31). This brings the total transferred to the State Education
Fund for Fiscal Year 2007-2008, which runs July 1, 2007, through May 31, 2008, to
$318,808,453.
"With one month to go in this fiscal year, we have surpassed last year’s transfer to
education. We anticipate another sizable return for the month of June," said Tom
Shaheen, NCEL executive director. "All of us at NCEL are committed to supporting our
core mission of raising money for education."
Including today’s transfer, the NCEL has transferred a total of $696.7 million to the State
Education Fund since its inception on March 30, 2006.
318,808,453.00 that’s a lot of money.

Now looking at the expansions for the new fiscal year and the adjustments for last year we have to start asking where is the money from the Education lottery? This is an un-educated view of the budget and of the Education Lotteries Public Campaign on how great it is and how well it is helping the State. 69 million to the State Education Fund. The state is looking for 108 million.

This has been a wonderful education process for me. I hope that you have found this to be stimulating at worst and aggravating at best.
The Lottery is the most profitable voluntary taxation process in the world. We all want that money but with all gambling you must keep in mind that the odds are staked in the houses favor. You are more than likely going to loose. My question is, Who is really winning? The money that the lottery generates is really enough but the amount that is actually contributed is not. Where is the rest going? Who is really in charge. I know what you are thinking. "It’s the oil company." I don’t think so but maybe.
All of the links listed above are real. All events are actual and verifiable. All persons are real but their names have been changed to protect the innocent. This reporter is not sure who those persons are.
Something to think about.
