Winston-Salem-based Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. announced Tuesday it has reached a franchise agreement with a division of the Almana Group to develop 25 retail locations during the next five years in Istanbul, Turkey.
Turkent Gida, A.S, a division of Almana Group also operates franchises for KFC and Pizza Hut in Turkey. Besides having a Coca Cola franchise (Almana Refreshments) and over 23 units of KFC and Pizza Hut in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, Turkey, Almana will round out the variety of fine foods with the best doughnuts in the world, in my opinion.
"We're confident that the Almana Group, with their extensive restaurant experience, is uniquely qualified to introduce Krispy Kreme in this important marketplace," said Jeff Welch, senior vice president and general manager of global franchise operations and development for Krispy Kreme.
Almost 75% of Krispy Kreme's total stores are operated by
franchisees, and 50% are located outside the United States. Turkey
will be the 15th country where the company's doughnuts are available. Besides Turkey, you will find these delicious doughnuts in the United Kingdom (England), Kuwait and Dubai in the Middle East; Indonesia, Hong Kong, Australia, Philippines, Korea and Japan, Mexico and Canada.
