Born and raised in the deep south so please overlook my spelling and grammar. We tend to type as we speak, but do discount that I may not have a brain. If you own a 1996 or newer vehicle and you live in certain counties in the state of North Carolina you can understand what I am talking about. Now lets say that your check engine light comes on. Now lets say that you are just like me. You work and live from pay day to pay day. You are hanging on to every dime that you can and you are making ends meet by robbing peter to pay paul. Lets take this one more step. Lets say that you have recently purchased a new vehicle so that you can transport your four children back and forth to daycare and school and soccer practice and lets say that the new vehicle has a check engine light that comes on on it.
Steps:
1.Take the vehicle to a mechanic.
2.Mechanic informs you that the sensor is bad
3.Mechanic informs you that the sensor will cost 349.00
4.You purchase the sensor and the problem is still there.
5.Mechanic informs you that there is another sensor that is defective.
6.Mechanic informs you that the new sensor will cost 230.00
7.You purchase the sensor and now you cant make the car payment.
8.Mechanic installs the new sensor
9.Mechanic informs you that there is another bad sensor
10.You hit a road block on the way to work and get a ticket for the inspection sticker that is now two months out.
11.Mechanic informs you that the new sensor is going to cost 298.00
12.Inform the mechanic that you got a ticket
13.Mechanic informs you that because you have spent over 250.00 you can get a waiver and come back next year.
14.You see a commercial about the check engine light that tells you that the problem could be as simple as tightening the gas cap.
15.You wonder who is putting who on.
The steps of this story may be out of order but they are all true. Selecting Counties to perform emissions checks is just like selecting areas in a restaurant as a “No-Smoking” Zone. POINTLESS.
Oh yea.
16.Go to court and tell the DA that you have the ticket taken care of and waste three hours of a work day and loose 150.00 of the work day and you WIN.
My Points:
1.The Mechanic is depending on a devise to tell him what the problem is.
2.The devise is depending on the computer in the car to tell the devise what the problem is.
3.The logic of the devise is created by humans.
4.The logic of the Computer is created by Humans.
5.There are flaws in humans by nature.
Something to think about.
